In Jacksonville’s growing Greenland community, Greenland Park is a neighborhood favorite that’s served local families for decades. History of Greenland Park
Greenland Park was dedicated on April 20, 1990, funded through the 1988 Neighborhood Park Improvement Bond Program to serve the growing Greenland community as residential development expanded across Jacksonville’s Southside.
In 1991, a monument was dedicated in the park in memory of Brandon O’Leary, a 13-year-old member of the Mandarin Athletic Association who died earlier that year, honoring his connection to the local youth sports community. The memorial remains part of the park’s history.
On January 25, 1995, the City of Jacksonville purchased an additional 16.5 acres from RM Williams, expanding the park to its current 20.3 acres. Since then, the park has seen ongoing improvements, including updated playground equipment, renovated concession and restroom facilities, and a new playground installed in 2023.
